Aedifica implements charter for responsible supplier relations

For years, Aedifica has been committed to good ethics and sustainable business practices. The group now continues to build on this commitment in its new charter for responsible supplier relations. The charter clarifies social and sustainable responsibilities of suppliers when working with Aedifica. At the same time, it commits the Group to continue to develop sustainable relationships with its partner companies.

As a leading player in the listed real estate sector, Aedifica is convinced that good ethics and a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable business practices are essential to its success. To honour this commitment, Aedifica has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) since 2020 and actively promotes the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact covering human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

With its new charter for responsible supplier relations, Aedifica aims to provide a framework for its partners in all countries where it is active to respect and promote together these 10 fundamental UNGC principles. In addition, Aedifica itself also engages in various commitments in order to build sustainable and balanced relationships with its suppliers.

This charter for responsible supplier relations provides us with a solid framework for promoting our commitments in the field of sustainable business practices among our partners that are hereby expected to share and support the same values as Aedifica. However, this is not a one-way street: we ask our suppliers to take up this commitment, but we also promise to apply equal principles in our relationship with them.
Thomas Moerman – General Counsel

The charter specifically aims to involve Aedifica’s suppliers in its sustainability strategy and to define their commitments with regard to:

  • business ethics: pursuing a strict zero-tolerance policy on bribery, corruption, money laundering, conflicts of interest and fraud
  • human rights and labour: respecting Aedifica’s Human Rights Policy
  • health and safety: providing a safe and healthy workplace and proactively preventing accidents
  • data security and protection: complying with current regulations on the processing of personal data
  • environmental protection: implementing a continuous improvement approach to environmental protection (co-operating to tackle climate change, protecting nature, preserving natural resources, etc.)

Aedifica wants to act as a responsible partner and also commits to its suppliers according to the following principles:

  • Aedifica shall conduct its business activities with the highest ethical and professional standards as set out in its Code of Conduct, also ensuring fair and impartial selection processes
  • Aedifica shall create an environment conducive to good relations with suppliers, focusing on transparency and communication, smooth processes, confidentiality, and health and safety
  • Aedifica shall respect the interest of its suppliers
