Inclusivity was at the centre of this year’s Zesdaagse, the cycling sport event organised annually at the Kuipke in Ghent. Thanks to the Grand Prix Aedifica, on 18 November, nine athletes with disabilities had the chance to complete the racecourse, following in the footsteps of their cycling idols.
As a leading healthcare real estate player, Aedifica values social commitment. That is why we joined forces with the Special Olympics Committee to give athletes with disabilities the opportunity to take part in the annual cycling festival. This way, we not only give them a platform to showcase their skills, but also highlight the importance of inclusiveness in the world of sport.
The nine athletes experienced an inspiring and motivating evening. Moreover, at the closing ceremony, they were rewarded for their sporting achievements with a medal and flowers from our Country Manager Belgium Stéphanie Lomme.
At Aedifica, we not only take our social responsibility inside and around the walls of our buildings, but also outside them. With the Grand Prix, we want to highlight the power of inclusiveness, which is important not only in the healthcare sector. We are therefore proud to have supported this platform for athletes with disabilities in collaboration with the Special Olympics Committee.
Stéphanie Lomme, Country Manager Belgium
